Baseball

The very first professional baseball game was played recently and our newspaper wanted to be the first to tell you of this historic event! You would think that we are going to tell you of this amazing new-found sport that is suddenly popular and you haven't heard of it until now. Well, readers, you are in for a great surprise! The first game of this sport was played by mere children and was so amazing and fun that the children believe that the entire nation should know! The game consists of two teams of nine players, a small ball, a glove to catch the ball, and a bat to hit the ball. The children were one day bored and quote "...wanted to come up with a game that Mr. Jackson himself would play!" They said that Andrew Jackson was their hero and wanted to meet him. They loved him because he was just like them. The children managed to persuade us to come view their game. We were low on stories and thought we could humor the kids but they showed us something worth watching! They hit the ball with the bat and people in this outfield caught it with their gloves and threw it to some one at base before the person that hit it could run around all the bases. We had no idea that children could come up with something so complex. We are having our messengers sent to Jackson himself so to meet the kids and hopefully see them play this new amazing game called "Baseball"!

Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport that is first documented as being played in southern England in the 16th century, it is practically like baseball. By the end of the 18th century, cricket had developed to the point where it had become the main sport of England. The growth of the British Empire led to cricket being played overseas and by the mid-19th century the first international matches were being held. Today, the game's governing body, the International Cricket Council, has 104 member countries. With its greatest popularity in the Test playing countries, cricket is widely regarded as the world's second most popular sport, after association football. The rules of the game are known as the Laws of Cricket. These are maintained by the ICC and the Marylebone Cricket Club, which holds the copyright. A cricket match is played on a cricket field at the centre of which is a pitch. The match is contested between two teams of eleven players each. One team bats, trying to score as many runs as possible without being dismissed “out” or dismissed. While the other team bowls and fields, trying to dismiss the other team’s batsmen and limit the runs being scored. When the batting team has used all its available overs or has no remaining batsmen, the roles become reversed and it is now the fielding team’s turn to bat and try to outscore the opposition. Cricket isn't played much now, instead of cricket many people play baseball.
